VBScript, stands for Visual Basic Scripting Edition. (Available from Microsoft).
VBScript have powerful functions and provide good support for variables, datatypes, ect.

I think in the article of domestic violence the exponent is right, maybe the fear is cultivated from the media who are bombarded with huge amounts of negative news in this regard.
